Technologies that take the hard work out of driving. Driver Assistance

Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC)

DCC is an innovative system that allows you to choose the style of driving you like at any time. A variety of ride settings can be customised at will - such as Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport and Individual - all available at your fingertips.

The system allows the car's adaptive dampers to be adjusted through a driving profile selection and also infinitely variable settings over an extended range using a slide control in the settings menu (from Comfort+ to Sport+).

As a result, DCC reacts intuitively as you drive - up to a thousand times per second - to bumps in the road, changing lanes or curvy roads, while reducing pitch and roll motion.

Lane Assist

VW Lane Assist stops your car from drifting out of its lane, reducing the chance of an accident. If it senses your car is drifting out of your driving lane it gently counter-steers the car back on line.

Since many accidents are caused by cars leaving their lanes when the driver's concentration falters, this innovative system makes driving safer and easier. The lane-keeping assistant uses a camera located in the rear-view mirror unit to monitor the road markings and prevent an unintended deviation. The system only intervenes if the indicators are not activated, so if you do want to change lanes and signal your intention, the intelligent system recognises this and switches off.

Driver Alert System (Rest Assist)

Monitors driver behaviour closely - noting any erratic steering wheel movements and lane deviations, for example - so it can judge the moment that you are starting to feel sleepy and need to stop.

It also continually evaluates traffic signals on the road when you are driving at speeds of more than 64kph and works out when it's time to take a break.

If the VW driver alert system detects that you're starting to lose concentration it will alert you with a visual display on the dashboard and a warning sound.

Maneuver Braking

Braking at the last possible moment allows the assistant to reduce the severity of a collision, or even to prevent it altogether. Maneuver braking is active when reversing, at a speed from 1.5 to 10 km/h, and when driving forwards, from 2.5 to 10 km/h. When the function is not required, then it can be disabled temporarily or permanently by using the radio system.

Maneuver braking protects the driver from a collision. It prevents unpleasant damage to the bumper, and to any objects near the vehicle.

Digital Cockpit

More than a digitalised dashboard. By design, the Digital Cockpit spans 10-inches wide across the dashboard,  and its vibrant, high-resolution display is engineered to be extremely intuitive and responsive to the driver's needs.

Not only does the Digital Cockpit feature a comprehensive list of information, but it is also fully customisable. Through easily accessible steering wheel buttons, drivers can customise their display with preference or relevant information which includes the speedometer, fuel economy, driving range, full-screen navigation, music playlists and much more.

The Digital Cockpit allows drivers to choose from 5 different display options. Classic, a standard dashboard view showing a digital version of your speedometer, tachometer, driving range and more. Auto automatically displays information relevant during driving, such as navigation, driver alert system. Personalised with three different custom settings that allow you to pre-set specific displays and data based on your different preference.

Dynamic cornering lights

Our LED headlights with dynamic cornering light give up to 90% better illumination of corners as the headlight beam will swivel to follow the angle of your steering wheel.

The steering movement of the headlight units, which include small servomotors, is controlled by signals from the steering angle sensor, among other things. The maximum swivel angle of the cornering lights is 15 degrees. This gives you early warning of any hazards and some vital extra time to react.

LED Headlights

The bird's-eye view of the light cone shows that areas adjacent to the road in particular are much better illuminated with LED technology.

LED headlights last much longer than traditional headlights and uses much less power then the alternative headlights. This enables an improvement in overall efficiency. LED headlights also runs much cooler.

Our LED headlights also consists of LED daytime running lights. These permanently on lights increased visibility of you to other road users at all times, thus increasing safety while driving.

Automatic Headlight Range Control

A camera on the windscreen analyses the traffic ahead as well as oncoming traffic. On the basis of this data, the system automatically switches to main beam at speeds of more than 60 km/h and main beam remains activated without dazzling oncoming traffic.

This improves the illumination of the carriageway and the roadside in twilight conditions and at night. Continuous main beam operation can therefore help in preventing accidents.

In addition, Dynamic Light Assist offers significantly greater comfort as the driver's eyes tire less quickly.

Tyre Pressure Load Indicator

An underinflated tyre can quickly cause damage.

If you see the tyre pressure warning symbol light up on your vehicle's dashboard, it means your tyre pressure has reduced considerably or the tyre has a damage.

The tyre pressure load indicator is a monitoring system that monitors the rotation of the tyres to detect any loss of pressure. The system will then warn the driver when the tires are under inflated.

Side Assist

Side Assist provides the driver with support for lane changing. Two sensors at the rear monitor the areas behind the car and in the blind spots at the sides. Irrespective of whether a lane change is intended, Side Assist indicates all the vehicles in the area which is critical for lane changing. A symbol in the relevant wing mirror is lit continuously to warn the driver of the potential risk.

If the driver operates the direction indicators despite this warning, the LED concerned lights up more brightly and flashes to warn the driver of the risk. Side Assist is active at speeds of 30 km/h and higher. Side Assist is always offered together with Rear Traffic Alert as a standard feature.
